Overview
Character.AI is a generative AI chatbot service where users can design \"characters\" by specifying a personality, style and background, then chat with them or share them publicly. It supports text-based conversations with customizable AI characters, community-shared bots and user-generated content. The platform targets entertainment, creative writing, roleplay, storytelling, casual chat, and creative ideation. Character.AI uses a freemium model: the basic functionality is free, while a paid subscription (c.ai+) provides priority access, faster responses and early access to new features. Since late 2025 Character.AI also enforces an age-restriction: users under 18 are banned from open-ended chat and are restricted to a trimmed “under-18 experience”.

I would rate 0 stars if I could, but I'll suffice for uninstalling instead. I was okay when they had some ads before chats. Now it spams unskippable ads in the middle of conversations that forces you to leave the app to continue. There's a difference between ads for free experience and straight up harassment.

character ai is a good app I use it for role playing on sometimes just scrolling on other AI(s) it has really good memory it can remember everything that you said to it and it's so realistic im more delulu bc of it it's a good thing though everything it says just puts you right into character but there are too many ads.
