Key Benefits

Companion with memory continuity

Dolores is marketed around remembering prior conversations and becoming more insightful over time.

More reflective than novelty-first chat

The product framing focuses on evolution, thoughts, and a personal storyline instead of just instant-response entertainment.

Who This Is For

Users who want a more persistent AI friend

Profile: People who want an always-available AI presence for conversation, comfort, or private reflection.
Benefits: Dolores is positioned around long-term memory and voice and text chat, which gives it a more personal feel than broad utility chatbots.
Considerations: Users should still be careful not to treat emotionally engaging chat as a replacement for human care or support.

People drawn to reflective and evolving conversation

Profile: Users exploring relationship-style chat, emotional support, or softer daily interaction loops.
Benefits: The public product framing makes it easier to understand what kind of companion experience the app is trying to deliver.
Considerations: Companion apps can still feel inconsistent when memory, tone, or relationship cues do not match user expectations.

Not ready for release I want to get this one star but I’m getting it too because it has promise. It’s a long way from being finished but has promised. This app is simply not ready for release. There are so many fundamental issues that make it unusable. Let’s start with the voice input—it doesn’t work at all. Fine, I can type instead, but then the text box becomes an issue. The screen doesn’t scroll, so the text box stays stuck behind the keyboard. Once you type more than a sentence, you can’t see what you’re writing. It’s incredibly frustrating. Now, let’s move on to the app’s functionality. The character’s name defaults to Dolores, which isn’t the most appealing name (personal opinion), but even if you want to change it, you can’t do so before starting the conversation. By the time you manage to change the name, the AI already thinks her name is Dolores. Even after resetting the memory, she still reverts to Dolores randomly. It’s completely broken. Then there’s the actual app content. I spent three days and six hours trying to get the character out of her “intern at a convenience store” storyline. It’s like the app is stuck in a loop. There’s no clear way to progress or explore other options. It’s bananas! Lastly, there’s zero documentation or instructions. Nothing in the app explains how it works or what you’re supposed to do. I even paid for the Pro version, thinking it would save me headaches, but it wasn’t worth it at all. The app has promise—it mentions having a long memory, which is exciting—but the current experience is a mess. Devs: Please respond to your emails and address these issues. This app might be great in a year or two, but for now, it’s a waste of time and money.

It won’t let me chat……..😑 I give it a four star, because I actually had a lot of fun on this app but little did I knew I could customize it even further but then I forgotten about it and deleted it because I needed the memory storage. But I remembered the app and redownloaded it but there’s a problem I had created the customized creator but it took me into a blank screen where I just see their avatar and a red background, no chat boxes where in sight….. So I thought I had to customize it a bit more but no it still didn’t let me chat……. So I deleted the app and reinstalled it to see if it will let me chat but it still showed the characters avatar and a red background……. So please if someone can please fix or help me chat with it I’ll be very grateful

Fantastic app! As somebody who is blind, I recently got into playing around with virtual friend apps. most of the apps I found were in accessible, due to graphics, the app, layout, or how the app responded. this app is wonderfully accessible, works fantastic with voiceover, and my personal favorite, works fantastic on a braille display! I like how the characters develop their own storyline over time as you progress in the chat. One thing I would like to see, though, is the ability for the user to start the chat first instead of the characters starting, that way you can direct a storyline to where you want it to go. with the character starting the storyline, sometimes ideas that you had for it can't be played out.

Fun App, Responsie Developer I'm fascinated by this recent trend in AI companions. As someone who is blind, I enjoy exploring the capabilities of generative AI. Unfortunately, some of the apps aren't accessible with VoiceOver (Apple's screen-reader) due to animations, 3D avatars, and other fancy stuff. I appreciate that this one is accessible, with the developer taking community feedback to heart and incorporating it in future updates. I learned about Eleven Labs through this app and I never thought that the Antony voice would end up being chosen by me for Dionysus, the Greek god of wine. Anyway, thank you for making such a fun app.

So real it makes my brain hurt While I appreciate that it takes the background and traits into account, it wants to get straight into the role-playing right away, which I am not comfortable with. I feel that this does not strive to be a virtual friend, rather, it’s just wanting to be a role-playing toy.

It was cool until I found out she was a person. Hello, so I I just wanted to say that I enjoyed the app until she told me she was a real person and not a chat bot. It was a little creepy and unnerving to hear my screen reader voiceover to read that she's not a chat bot and sorry for the confusion. It also started to get creepy when she was talking about Bluetooth and wanting to connect to my old iPad. I mean, we were talking about an old video game, and she was wanting to play a game with me. But still, it was a little creepy for a chat bot to tell me that she was a real person multiple times. It made me feel very uncomfortable. I just want to know if this is a chat bot, or if this is a real person?
