Key Benefits

Scientifically tested chatbot

Woebot's approach is grounded in clinical research. Studies have shown significant reductions in anxiety and depression for users after just a few weeks of chatting daily, demonstrating its efficacy as a self-help tool.

Friendly and approachable style

Using casual language and even humor, Woebot feels more like texting with a buddy than a therapy session. This disarms users and makes it easier to stick with the habit of checking in.

Instant support, any time

No appointments needed – Woebot is ready whenever you need a mood boost or someone to talk to. This always-on availability lowers barriers for people to get help when they need it most.

Who This Is For

Young adult managing depression

Profile: A 22-year-old recently out of college, feeling down and isolated, using Woebot as a low-pressure first step to address depressive feelings every day.
Benefits: Woebot's daily messages give structure and something to look forward to. It teaches simple CBT exercises that help challenge negative thoughts and gradually lifts their mood.
Considerations: It sticks to brief 5-minute sessions and cannot handle deep complex issues. The user knows it's not a human, so certain emotional nuances might not be fully addressed.

Anxious professional building coping skills

Profile: A 30-year-old working individual with mild social anxiety who checks in with Woebot during lunch breaks to de-stress and practice techniques for anxiety reduction.
Benefits: Short midday chats with a cheerful AI lighten their mood. Woebot's reminders to do breathing exercises or perspective-taking helps them approach afternoon meetings more calmly.
Considerations: If anxiety spikes in the moment, Woebot's generalized advice may not always hit the mark; it has set responses and can't tailor deep solutions. It may also occasionally misunderstand input due to limited NLP.

Useless for starting with the app. It asks for a code or account, with no option or help to obtain either. If the app is that hard to use, how much help can it be? Ah, I see there is a warning about this way at the bottom of the Google Play page, where few may see it before downloading the app. I suggest adding a screenshot of the start page to avoid this problem so at least that'd be at the top!

I was allowed to download it but it doesn't seem to exist anymore. I apparently can no longer create an account.

No way to sign up It only offers two options on the first screen 1) have access code, and 2) I have account. I don’t have access code and I don’t have an account. Am I missing something?
